An abstract, dance-based
film in which an alien being is dropped into a big city
and finds herself at once overcome with curiosity and
overwhelmed by the bombardment of sensory impulses that
surround her. She explores her new environment until
being captured in a round, cement pen, where observers
photograph her. The film explores the nature of curiosity
and how it can lead to moments of wonder as well as resistance
from others. Using a combination of rehearsed and improvised
dance and stream-of-consciousness voice-over narration,
the character was originally developed by dancer Meredith
Wrede for a live outdoor show at the Toronto International
Dance Festival.
